Picture retakes will be this Tuesday, November 17th. Reminder that Morehead’s Locavore Day is this Tuesday, November 17 as well. Students purchasing school lunch on that day will enjoy local fruits and vegetables as part of the freshly prepared menu. All parents are invited to the Thursday November 19th PTA meeting. November 19th is also our next Third Thursday and we need volunteers to allow the teachers a chance to have time together. In celebration of the upcoming holiday and American Education Week, the PTA Staff Appreciation Committee along with the Primary classes will host a Staff Appreciation Luncheon on this Third Thursday. What a perfect way to say thanks to our teachers and have lunch with your child/children at the same time! Please contact your child's teacher or room parent to let them know you will be able to help. Have a great week! |

Walk into a Montessori classroom and find a specially prepared environment that provides rich, developmentally appropriate experiences. You will observe multi-aged children working alone or in small groups, engaged in stimulating, challenging, individualized hands-on activities, prepared by teachers who are Montessori trained and North Carolina certified. Student work areas are well defined and include materials that invite the students to make discoveries about their immediate community and the broader world, in a sequential manner. In a Primary class, comprised of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students, you may notice a student working with the trinomial cube, to match the colors of the smaller pieces to reform the cube. In a Lower Elementary room, consisting of first, second and third graders, a student might measure the individual pieces. Fourth and fifth graders, in the Upper Elementary room, would use the cube as they delve into algebra. Students also use concrete materials in other areas as they explore increasingly more complex concepts. Using Montessori materials and activities to follow the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, Morehead Montessori educates the whole child. |
